Uses beyond defect hunting
- • Checking a projector or TV input for color casts.
- • Spotting a weak subpixel color that only shows on secondaries.
- • A quick light panel — use the custom picker for any color at full brightness.
- • Comparing two displays side by side with identical fields.
Why secondaries are worth testing
Cyan, magenta and yellow each light two subpixels at once. A pixel whose red subpixel has failed looks fine on the green and blue slides, shows a dark dot on red — and shows a green-tinted dot on yellow and magenta. If a defect appears on some colors but not others, the pattern tells you exactly which subpixel is affected, which is useful detail for a report or a warranty conversation.
Hunting specifically for dead or stuck pixels? The focused Dead Pixel Check sequence is faster; this page is the broader color sweep.
