Dead Pixel Check

Dead Pixel Simulator

Not sure what a dead pixel actually looks like at real size? This tool hides simulated defects on your screen — find them all, then inspect a real panel with trained eyes.

A mix of "dead" (black) and "stuck" (colored) dots is placed at random positions. Click a dot when you spot it. Switch background colors — just like a real test, some defects only show on certain colors.

find every defect

Why practice?

  • A single pixel on a modern screen is ~0.1–0.3 mm — smaller than most people expect.
  • Dead dots are invisible on black; stuck dots are invisible on their own color.
  • Useful before unboxing inspections and used-device purchases.

From simulation to the real thing

The simulator teaches the two habits that make real inspections reliable: scan systematically — sweep the screen in rows rather than letting your eyes wander — and check every background color, because each defect type is only visible against the right backdrop. A black "dead" dot vanishes on a black background; a green stuck dot vanishes on green.

When you can consistently find the 1 px defects here, you're ready to run the real dead pixel check on a new monitor, a repaired laptop or that suspiciously cheap used phone. And remember the difference matters: colored dots can sometimes be fixed, black dots cannot.
